Winter Waterbird Seawall Survey
On Sunday, November 16, 2008 SPES staff, volunteers and members of the public conducted our first annual winter seawall survey. The survey aimed to count every bird using the seashore. The shoreline was broken into four zones for comparison and birds were recorded as either sitting on shore, using the intertidal zone (between the high tide and low tide lines), or using offshore areas. The results are displayed below.
