SPEA Project Timeline

In October, 2003, the Vancouver Park Board approved providing funding to the Stanley Park Ecology Society for the building of a cob demonstration project to replace the existing concession operated by the Stanley Park Ecology Society. The Society committed to matching that contribution in funds and in-kind.

In April 2004, the Cob Project Lead and the Cob Project Assistant were hired. The project began to be publicized.

On May 10, 2004, the groundbreaking ceremony was held (see Project diary for photographs). Work began on the foundation.

May 2004: Groundbreaking; Foundation and trench digging; Materials sourcing; Website launched

June 2004: Project promotion at local community events

July 2004: Environmental Youth Alliance interns arrive July 12; Cob mixing and building; Project promotion

The living green roof was built during the month of September, 2004, with the building's grand opening on September 18th.
