Coyote Ear
Coyotes have excellent hearing. After sight, hearing is their most important hunting tool. They can hear a rodent squeak or move under both soil and snow. As one of the most communicative mammals on the continent, coyotes use their ears to differentiate between their many distinct calls. Calls can mean everything from a challenge, to a greeting, a warning, or an invitation to play. Coyotes can howl, growl, bark, yelp, yip, yap, huff, woof and whine. They also use scent markings and gestures to communicate. Use you own ears to discover a few coyote sounds.
